| This Filipina from Vallejo, CA started as a deejay
in 1995 spinning house and freestyle music. In 1996, Calalo
decided to transition to Hip Hop. It was here that her true passion
for Hip Hop music and culture was born. She is the only female member
of the DJ group, The Formula. Though she often has to play mainstream
music, DJ Calalo is tapped into the pulse of the audience combining,
not only hip hop, but also old school, underground hip hop, disco,
dancehall, pop, 80's, funk, r&b, and soul. And don't be surprised
if you happen to hear some scratchin' and beat jugglin' flowing
from the sound system. That's just her way of keeping things exciting
and fresh. Her understanding of the various types of music allows
her to bring joy and pure delight to everyone. Some of her influences
are: Triple Threat Djs, Boogie Brown, NeoGeo, and other female DJs
who can BRING IT to the tables. |
